GPS and maps for vodafone 858 without data plan ?

Vodafone UK has come up with a new twist for potential buyers of smartphones on their network. Dubbed Vodafone Red Hot, users sign up for a pair of 12-month contracts. The first is for a typical data plan that includes unlimited voice and text and up to 2GB of data. The second contract is to “hire” the device you select.

Vodafone and Three unleash aggressive prepaid iPad 3G plans, starting at $10 for 250MB and topped by an ‘unlimited’ plan for just $50 per month, with up to 14GB of data rollover.

Google’s very own Android phone is finally released in Australia, with exclusive carrier Vodafone launching the Nexus One ‘free’ on a $79 cap plan with 1GB of data.

Hello everyone. Lots of great informative info here. I am with AT@T and have an older Nokia non smart phone with a $10.00 per month unlimited data plan which I roughly use around 350mb per month. I was considering getting a G I5500 unlocked phone and need to know if they will detect it and do you think they will alter my data plan? thanks in advance

Launch of new mobile plan by Vodafone NZ with a huge differential between on-net and off-net calling rates has led the NZ Commerce Commission to reverse an earlier decision. It now says that mobile termination rates - the prices mobile operators charge other telcos for delivery of calls to their customers' phones - should be regulated.

I'm thinking about getting a samsung galaxy player and being able to use maps fully without a data plan is going to be the deciding factor. it has a built in gps but i dont know if that matters with maps since i think its internet based. so my question is will i be able to fully use maps even though i dont have data but do have a gps receiver?

Help! Too much information out there - hard to sift thru it. I have an unlocked T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S phone. I currently have an unlimited data plan with T-mobile here in the states. Going to Australia and would like to use my phone without charges. Can I use a local prepaid SIM card for local calling only (no data plan) and use WiFi as I find it to do my Internet stuff?

Just got my Nexus 4 and took it up to T-Mobile to try and sign up for the $30 prepaid plan, the one with 100 voice minutes and unlimited text and data. Seems like that is just damned near impossible!

First T-Mobile sent me to Walmart. Walmart told me this was only available if you bought one of their phones.
