As some of you may have noticed, the Play Store received an update over the weekend. While there may not be many changes on the surface, this usually means that they’re getting ready to roll out a new service embedded within the store itself. Sure enough, the folks over at Android Police have uncovered an interesting change.
Google announced today that it’s bringing Google Play movies, TV shows and music to its Google TV platform, through an update that will allow users to rent or buy content through the included Google Play store on Google TV devices.

Google launched Google Play Magazines and TV shows in the US at Google I/O last week. Well, it looks like you folks across the pond won’t be getting access to these new services, or to Google Music, in time for the Nexus 7 launch. Currently, the UK has access to Apps, Books, and Movies.
Google’s been awfully busy these past few weeks, but it seems that between sunsetting Reader (and pissing off most of the Internet in the process) and rolling out new services like Google Keep, the company has been working on a redesigned version of the Google Play Store for Android. That’s what the folks at Droid-Life claim, anyway.

The UI has been updated to provide access to the Google Play store that is similar to that found on other Android devices. Consumers can purchase movies, music, and TV shows through the store.
