Google nixes Verizon Nexus One launch

When is a Nexus not a Nexus? When you buy it from Verizon, evidently. It’s long been a gripe of Verizon Nexus owners that their pride and joy often receives the latest and greatest Android update months after the GSM variant.

Google declined to comment on Engadget's claim that Google will decouple Android components from core code releases, offering them over Android Market, says eWEEK. In other Android news on eWEEK, the Motorola Droid started receiving Android 2.1 updates, and Google denied that it's sharing ad revenues from Android apps....

Google announced the Nexus 4 today which allows Android users to buy a phone outside of the influence of the major carriers. It turns out that freedom comes at a price: LTE.

Google will be introducing its Nexus One smartphone device next Tuesday, it appears certain. Not that Google has said as much: All the the company has announced is that it will hold an "Android related" press conference on Jan. 5, a day identified in prior rumor accounts as the Google phone's launch date.

I’m not sure we really need any more confirmation that the Google Nexus Tablet is going to be announced either today or tomorrow at Google I/O, but in case you’re still skeptical, Google has the Nexus banner on the third floor of  the Moscone Center.
