I'm running FC11, attempting to record from vinyl.
At first I heard no sound so I installed gst-mixer and unmuted "aux" and now I can hear the record playing thru the speakers attached to the sound card.
When I attempt to record the sound using audacity I get silence.
Hello all. :D
Using my new laptop - Samsung 305 series + Xubuntu 11.10 - for playing music and videos, I encounter a problem. There is an annoying digital-sounding squeal coming from the speakers at all times.
I noticed that the volume control when I use xubuntu is not really working properly.
I can see, that xubuntu is recognizing that it should do something and displays a small image indicating volume up/down or mute.
I used one of the help guides for establishing hdmi sound here

and also installed pulseaudio volume control. I can see the hdmi sound which would come out of my tv speakers yet isn't. In PulseAudio, the sound bar pulses which shows sound activity. The picture is great. The sound is no longer sent out of the built in speakers. My TV is not muted.
I've installed a tv card but I can't hear the sound through my built-in CMedia soundcard when I watch tv with TVTime. The tv card's audio output is externally connected to my soundcard's line in input. In the 'Input' tab of the 'Sound Preferences' dialog, I can see the input level meter moving.
Just installed F12 and noticed that the volume control applet is now all Pulseaudio rubbish, not Alsa like gmixer used to be.
So now I don't seem to be able to mute my speakers when I'm using my headset, which in F10 I could do by just muting LFE/Center.
I have my stereo plugged into the line in on my computer. When I wanted to listen to something on it (like, say, FM radio), I could just go into the mixer, unmute the line in on the playback, and I could listen to whatever was streaming in over my computer speakers.
Just a follow up to this for anyone with the same issue. I ended up installing alsa, alsa-oss, and pulseaudio-alsa, and then configuring them with an Alsa Mixer (in this case xfce4-mixer, but there are others) and Pulseaudio Volume Control (pavucontrol). In Pulseaudio Volume Control, I disabled 'HD-Audio Generic', as it is for the HDMI output of my graphics card, and set
Greetings forum.
As the title alludes to, I am using Linux Lite 1.0.4 and I am having problems getting the sound to work properly.
My sound card is a PCI - "Creative Labs, Sound Blaster Live 5.1" surround sound card, and the problem is, I cannot get sound from anything other than the front speakers.
I have tried adjusting the options in the sound preferences - Menu> Multimedia>
