gnome-shell doesn't show wired connection when cable unplugged

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – first of all, i use fedora 19 and gnome shell 3.8, as we know, when we don't plug in the wire(cable), the connection bar will show "wired cable unpluged", in most condition, there is no problem with it. however, in my campus, sometimes, if you want to connect to the internet, you have to connect to a wifi connection first(connect to it will not be connectted to the internet), then connect to a "wired" connection(through the wifi, not through a true wire), and then connect to a vpn service, after the three steps we can connect to internet. so the problem is, i don't hav (HowTos)
