Ok, I realise that I risk a religious war asking a question about text editors, but here goes.
Requirements
Mostly used for config file edits
Text based not GUI
Available for Raspian flavour of Debian
No learning required for a Windows/Mac GUI user (no vi/vim)

I'm using zsh + rxvt-unicode as a terminal simulator in Archlinux. I've successfully setup navigation in the terminal using Ctrl+Arrow keys, but i can't setup the terminal to be able to select text when pressing Shift + Arrow (or Ctrl + Shift + Arrow to select the whole word). After several days of searching for solution I couldn't find one.

Hi Everybody.
Sometime ago I played with keyboard shortcuts in Ubuntu.
Now, I am having a problem. When I use VirtualBox VMs and try to copy/paste things within the guest VM, using Ctrl+c/Ctrl+v, they do not work i.e. instead of performing the action, pressing e.g. Ctrl+c has the effect of pressing the 'c' key (e.g.
I'm on my Ubuntu 12.04. Every time I'm editing a text, i'm using ctrl + left/right arrow keys to move/jump between words. Recently, I installed xscreensaver and changed keyboard shortcuts to activate my screensaver. But then, Ctrl + left key stop responding to what it must do (move to the next word to the left). Ctrl + right key still jumps to next word to the right.
Hello.
I always have to keep an application open I copied text from to paste the text somewhere. In fact the copied text will be saved to Klipper (if Klipper is on) after it has been copied. But why cannot a simple shortcut Ctrl + V be used to paste the copied text?
OS: Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS
KDE version: 4.4.5

Hi all,
I just made the switch last night from Ubuntu 11.04 to Lubuntu 11.10, looking for a faster more reliable system. Instead, I think i got the opposite. Right now, on startup, my toolbar does not appear, so I can't access anything. The keyboard shortcuts seem to be partially broken, so ctrl alt T doesn't work.
I'm new to Ubuntu and am trying to figure out some things. In Notepad++ it is possible to use WebEdit plugin and define keyboard shortcuts for different HTML tags. E. g. "Ctrl + p" can wrap the text in paragraph tags.
Is there such an option in some of Ubuntu's editors.
