Thunar is a new modern file manager for the Xfce Desktop Environment. It has been designed from the ground up to be fast and easy-to-use. Its user interface is clean and intuitive, and does not include any confusing or useless options.
Ok, I think I have a fix. Deleting my Thunar config files helped. But here's the tricky part:You know the "~/.config/Thunar" directory? That apparently is not the Thunar config file location. Instead, I removed "~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/thunar*". After restarting Thunar, my Trash can worked correctly.
I am trying to set the default application for magnet links using:
xdg-mime default deluge.desktop x-scheme-handler/magnet
Checking this with grep -i deluge ~/.local/share/applications/*
yeilds:
/home/manko/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list:x-scheme-handler/magnet=deluge.desktop
/home/manko/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list:application/x-bittorrent=deluge.desktop
i.e.
I'm having difficulty in #! unmounting USB drives (either via thunar itself or on the command-line). Despite no windows/applications/terminals being open, "lsof" reports that "thunar" is holding the drive active. Or otherwise it's "xdg-screen" (?). I'm having toumount /media/X -lall the time.
> thunar-dropbox-0.1.1.tar.bz2> thunar-dropbox-0.1.1-i386.deb=Runtime dependencies:=thunar=Buildtime dependencies:=thunar, libthunar-vfs-1-devHello,I've created a plugin for thunar that adds context-menu items for dropbox.
... the question is: From whence does Thunar fetch it's default folder icon?! <..:confused:..>
Long story short, I've changed my icon theme, and gotten everything else to respect that choice ... with the single exception of the default folder icon in Thunar.
See below for attached screenshots of three file managers.
I have tried setting the default application for mkv files to VLC. But everytime I try and open the properties window on the file I get a message that says "Creating Properties window." and it never finishes. So I decided to try and use the CLI to achieve my goal.
I believe Thunar doesn't handle desktop icons, on XFCE xfdesktop takes care of that. But it's OK, this way my desktop is always clean Also, creating .xinitrc as above was a huge mistake. Processes like awn or thunar did not have the privileges proved by ConsoleKit. Thus, i wasn't able to see my partitions on the left side pane in thunar.
Ok even thunar automount does't work for me...Opening thunar from terminal and plugging usb in results in this$ thunar
thunar-volman: Unsupported USB device type.
thunar-volman: Unsupported USB device type.
thunar-volman: Could not detect the volume corresponding to the device.
