Does motivation matter? Open source contributors are increasingly people who are paid to work on open source. GNOME contributor Lucas Rocha asks how this impacts communities over the long term. This is not a new question by any stretch.
George Lucas just sold Lucasfilm to Disney. Not only that, but Disney is now working on a new Star Wars trilogy (episodes 7-9) that will be released in 2015. They'll be using George Lucas as a creative consultant, and they will be using a storyline that Lucas has already worked on. Lucas's current co-chair will be going to Disney and will still be in charge of this stuff.
With GNOME 3.0 now out, the release team got a revamp too!

Due to being busy with other matters, Paul Cutler has decided to step down from The GNOME Foundation board of directors. Andreas Nilsson will replace him as Chairman and Bastien Nocera will take the role of Vice-Chairman.
As the board needs to consist of 7 members, Stormy Peters was asked by the board to step up and fill the empty seat.
I have a USB external hard drive with several partitions, and I cannot spin down the hard drive to get it to eject. Any suggestions? I unmounted all partitions through Nautilus, but the drive is still spinning.
