Giving Gnome DO a try but haven't been able to get any of the plugin's I selected to work.
Anyone have an idea on this?
Also, any opinions on Cairo Dock vs DO in Docky mode?
Which is more MAC like? Cairo has lots of settings and options seem like too many?
Can anyone tell me whether Gnome Docky can be compiled from source tar.gz for fedora as it is only provided as a deb package. If it is possible can anyone help with instruction to compile it?
docky ppa link: https://launchpad.net/docky
I'm familiar with:-
tar package xvzf tar.gz
cd package
My newfound favorite computing app is the desktop dock. Over the last few weeks, I freed myself of dependence on the desktop icon to find and launch the programs I use every day. My search for the ideal docking app came to a halt with Avant Window Navigator, also known as "AWN." I was ready to settle down with GNOME Do and its handy Docky option.
Hi there! I'm a little curious, as GNOME Shell's really a great DE 'cause it's really about as customizable as GNOME 2 was if you think about it, if there's any way you can get MGSE in the GNOME spin of Fedora, as well as Docky and Conky. You can set up something like that easily in Fedora, or any other RPM-based GNOME Shell distro, such as Mageia, right?
Hello guys. I'm a GNOME fanatic but I must admit that GNOME 3 has concerned me. At first I didn't like it at all. Then I got used to it a little and after that I reminded myself that even with GNOME 2 I certainly did NOT used any of the default theme/features etc. So I need to give some time to GNOME 3 for the devs to make mods, themes etc. Right now 3 things concern me:1.

I have 3 sessions: Gnome Fallback, Gnome Fallback (No Effects) and Cinnamon.
I need Cairo-dock in Fallback only. But adding to cairo-dock.desktop the following line:
AutostartCondition=GNOME3 if-session gnome-fallback
brings strange result to: Cairo-dock starts only in Gnome Fallback (No Effects).
It does not start in Gnome Fallback.
Plank is meant to be the simplest dock on the planet. The goal is to provide just what a dock needs and absolutely nothing more. It is, however, a library which can be extended to create other dock programs with more advanced features.
I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 12.10 (running pure KDE, no GNOME nor Unity anymore). Since AWN is no longer in the Ubuntu repositories, I decided to stick with Docky like I did in Ubuntu 12.04 (GNOME and KDE). However... I have this problem going on (screenshot here).
My trashcan docklet icon only shows a gear... not a trash can. I am using GNOME as the fallback icons for GTK apps.
