<Sorry for my bad english>Help...After doing full upgrades yesterday, I cannot running any GUI applications as root via "gksu -" and also after "su -" The error was related to display, like "cannot open display" or something like that.I also notice that the new util-linux package bring a new file /etc/pam.d/su-l.

I may be wrong though, but I assumed that it needed a password to be used since it uses gksu.Sorry everyone, I just went and assumed doing it with policykit would be difficult, since there aren't any tutorials for it.

This is only a guess, but maybe you need to set your GTK2/3 theme for root. At least for GTK3 theme settings you can copy ~/.config/gtk-3.0/ to /root/.config/.

I'm running 12.04, latest updates.
when I use gksu in the menu to start a application the prompt for password doesn't appear and the application starts with user priviledges.
If I use gksu from commmand line everything works just fine.
Any idea?
Hi All,
Anyone what this gksu error is about (it repeats it three times)
Many thanks,
