Is Gmail Contacts&Calendar sync without Email set-up possible?

http://androidforums.com – Hi there, Am just wondering if it is possible to sync a Gmail account's Calendar and Contacts without setting up the email. I know you can uncheck the box that syncs email but I want to go further and not set it up (but still need calendar and contacts sync). The iPhone allows you to do this and I've recently gone back to an old iPhone 3Gs from my Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean despite preferring Android over iOS purely because I'm trying to wean myself off work email (it's my business) and don't completely trust myself to have the discipline not to open email during evenings a (General)

Contacts do not Sync since Aug 2nd. Calendar and email syncs just fine. I can tell it to sync and it doesn't. I've cleared data and cache then uninstalled updates, still no sync. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello all, I just switched from a HTC Incredible S to a Galaxy S3 with 4.1.1

I have Microsoft activesync enabled to my work email.

I've been trying to sync my Note 2 calendar and contacts with Outlook, and have been on loooong calls with tech support. The first guy got my google email account set up (I didn't know I had to have that to use my Note 2). He created a Google calendar on my laptop, then sync'ed that to my Note 2.

My contacts seem to have doubled up viz: Picasa Web Albums - Pete Cresswell - Misc.

Thankfully, the dupes do not seem to have penetrated my contact DB (i.e. they only show up when I bring up Phone | Contacts....

I would like to auto sync the gmail and calendar apps, only when they start. I am having a Galaxy SII (use the Gmail app and the Samsung Calendar app sync with goog), and I am relatively noob about Android. Hi, I have an HTC Status running 2.3.3, and I generally only use it for texting. Recently I started using a few more features and set up an event on the calendar so that it would then sync and appear on my Google Calendar, which I have done several times before with no problems.

Hi, everyone. I have my Verizon GS3 set to pull & display my Gmail email, which is my work account. It also syncs my calendar, which is great.

However, my work populates my address book automatically with all of my fellow employees...AND all the students (I work at a college). This has subsequently been synched with my phone. I don't want all this stuff in my phone contact list.

My Galaxy S Blaze wont sync correctly with gmail. In my gmail account, only email addresses are syncing to it, not any telephone numbers from my phone.

This has happened when I had gingerbread and today ICS was released and I installed it and it still is doing the same thing: Only email addresses being synced to my gmail account contact list.

I believe I have all my settings correct.
