GitHub had another outage this afternoon. This is getting old. How can GitHub be taken seriously in the enterprise with these kinds of outages?
GitHub started showing exceptions at 3:14 PST. By 3:20, GitHub announced on its status page that a database spike caused the service to have a major outage.
It makes no difference if GitHub for Enterprise runs on-premise.

According to a GitHub post this morning, GitHub for Mac is now supported in GitHub Enterprise. The support comes as part of the latest release of GitHub for Mac. The features, “Clone in Mac,” username auto-completion and notifications, are now available with a user’s enterprise repositories.
GitHub has passed the 3 million-developer mark, a milestone for the collaborative platform for application development. GitHub said it happened Monday night on the first day of the company’s all-hands winter summit.
Launched in April 2008, GitHub celebrated its first million users in September 2011. The company hit the 2 million mark in August 2012, just short of a year later.
I would like Jira and Github to talk to each other so commit messages with ticket names show up in the ticket. Issue sync would be nice as well.
I know jira has a DVCS connector but the documentation is piss poor. From what I can tell that and the Github hooks require our private jira instance to be available from the public internet or at least github's servers.
GoDaddy’s email service experienced an extended outage this morning, affecting a portion of its customer base. The outage took down the email systems beginning around 7:00 AM ET (estimated) this morning, and the problems were fixed by 10:30 AM ET, according to the company.
We received numerous tips from readers about the problem, and Twitter was also filled with complaints.
Apparently not wanting GoDaddy and GitHub to have all the outage fun this: Cloudflare confirmed on Twitter that it had issues this morning. Some sites may still be experiencing issues.

A routine sever firmware update resulted in an anything but routine outage for Microsoft’s Outlook and Hotmail. On March 12, Outlook.com and Hotmail were unavailable to some users, and as Microsoft details in a blog post, a firmware update caused servers to overheat and go offline for 16 hours.
Back in July, collaborative code repository GitHub raised a whopping $100 million from Andreessen Horowitz to build out an enterprise version of the service, among other things. Until now, it’s been in need of someone to help the co-founders manage that cash and keep the fiscal ship from any nearby cliffs.
