I have been unable to print to an HP Deskjet D2660 that I have connected to my Mac ever since I started using the 64 bit Ubuntu (starting with Natty, IIRC). Previously, this printer worked just fine with 32 bit Ubuntu versions.
The Mac is running OS X 10.7.5 'Lion' and the current HP drivers from Apple are installed.

I have no problem with printing text files... But when I want to print some image... The image is not printed (although it's visible on the print preview)... The problem occurs in all Libre office programs and in most PDF programs except Adobe... It seems like the printer doesn't print if it can't recognize the font... Does anyone have any clue what should I do?

When I try to print a matlab figure from red hat 5, it always comes out greyscale, even when I print to file. I can get around this by saving the plot as a PNG and then printing that, but I'd like to be able to print matlab plots directly.
I've tried selecting "color" in the print dialog box and in print preview, but the images still come out greyscale.
How can I get matlab to print in color?
When I choose to print something out, I currently have the option "print to PDF." I'd like to make it so that I also have the option of "print to jpg." Is this possible? I know that I can convert PDF to jpg, but I have to do this very often, so it would be much more convenient to print directly to jpg.
It's been messing up a lot lately, as in, delays several seconds before printing, then once it starts to print, it takes a long time. It use to print as soon as you would click "Print". But now, it's extremely slow and I'm not sure why. It's not that old. Bought it about a year ago and it worked just fine. But lately, the main problem is printing pictures.
I'm having trouble with my HP Laserjet 1020. I'm running Karmic beta, but had the same problem under Jaunty...
If I plug the printer in, it seems to install fine. It uses the Foomatic driver. To print, I have to uncheck "sharing".
All right, this is driving me nuts.
I have an HP Color LaserJet cm1312nfi connected to the ethernet jack on a D-Link DPR-1260 wireless usb print server - so the print server acts as a wireless bridge. I can't get any Ubuntu box to print to the LaserJet. Windows XP and Vista laptops on the network print to it just fine.

i got this problem with my printer, but it seems really a problem a lot of people are having.
i have ubuntu 10.04, and run on an parrallel port a hp 6l. the printer was found but could not print, the printing documents were pending and then disseappered.
Now i have connected a hp laserjet 8100 DN on the parrallel port.
i have gotten a pdf document on a CD which i need to print out. a program called evince is the default document viewer that came with my installation of fedora. it displays the document on the monitor just fine, all 152 pages of it.
