The open source image editor known as GIMP doesn't need an introduction. Neither does its multi-window interface.
GIMP is a very powerful image editor, there's no denying that, but no matter how good it is feature-wise, some people simply don't like, or can't get used to the interface it sports.
I just installed the new GIMP.

we used to see Gimp with triple windows view with the last stable release of Gimp for tool box, editing window, and ” layers, patterns, channels, undo, brushes”. But Now with the development release it’s just single window mode for all three windows, and it’s fully customizable for dragging elements all over this window.
That's basically all I know. I run a KDE desktop and have not recently upgraded. However, for some odd reason, Gimp just won't come up. I see the bouncy Gimp icon next to my cursor and I see a task manager icon at the bottom of my screen but after about 15 seconds, the icon leaves and nothing ever happens. I am a web designer and Gimp is a must have!
I am trying to install GIMP using the dpkg function in the terminal window. It looks like I am getting an error. Any ideas?

GIMP 2.6.9 is released. For newbies, GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. As you can infer from the name, GIMP is completely open source and is also free as in free beer. GIMP is pitched as the open source alternative for Adobe Photoshop. GIMP is cross platform and yes, GIMP has a Windows version also.
I have a question; I have Gimp installed on my laptop but it will not start the error I'm getting is "gimp error while loading shared libraries: libgegl-0.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
I have had Gimp running before but for some reason it won't now.
I have re-installed it and it didn't help.
Any please.
