Hello Guys,
I am comparitively new to Ubuntu (i.e. less then 1 year experience), but i have started liking it a lot. It seems to be the perfect platform for development of PHP applications and websites.
The main reason to start this thread is I want more information on how I can setup Ubuntu Server/Desktop in my office.
I don't know a lot about linux or networking, though I do know the basics.
I've looked at a lot of free networking materials on the net but they all seem to teach things from a windows perspective (eg, they use windows commands).
Are there any kinds of free material (ebooks, courses, podcasts etc) on the web to learn networking from a linux perspective, using linux commands and linux programs?
Linux Training – Installing Linux on a Windows System
By Clyde E. Boom
The best way to get Linux training and Linux administration experience is to start by getting, installing and running Linux on a system. This allows you to actually work with Linux to run programs and learn Linux commands.
I'm migrating from an openSUSE (12.x) CLI home office server to CentOS 6.3.
I can install the CLI CentOS 6.3 fine, but then how do I connect that to my home wifi?
There is a "Configure network" button during the anaconda graphical install, and it has options for wifi, but even setting the wifi here results in no connection when the install finishes and I log into the CLI.

Hey guys, I am looking to securing my server a bit more by closing off Port 21 & 22 and only allowing access from my network in office and house hold, I have been noticing some suspicious stuff goi... [by slick101]
Need to make sure everything is secured as best as possible before uploading and start working on site allowing users to log in.
Will not be working in a network, it is just myself running a community interactive site and already know security measures for drupal, just not clearly for linux.
I'm setting up a development server on a HP microserver with CentOS 6.3. I'm relatively new to Linux and have ran into some issues/confusion. I have the server fully setup/updated with yum. It's a headless server & I'm connecting via PuTTY. For the following installs of OpenCart, I'm logged in via SSH as a regular non-root user.
I'm trying to do a clean install of OpenCart 1.5.4.1.
Best Beginners Linux Commands
By Dennis Frank Parker
There are many common Linux commands that will be to your benefit, if you ever even use your command line software in Linux. Many average users just use the graphical user interface instead which usually provides many tools and front-ends to Linux common commands.
I've been tasked with researching setting up a whois server for our domains. Anyone here have experience with setting one up and what's involved? I googled for it but not much information... [by moonpup]
