getting fedora 17 boot back after windows 7 install

view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have Fedora 17 running on a machine and I have a spare drive which I would like to install Win 7 on. Windows 7 will blow away my Linux boot so I want to be confident I can sort out the dual boot (or as a minimum, get back to Fedora) afterwards. I wanted to setup a boot USB (or CD) with a different grub2 menu and confirm that I could boot with this before installing Windows 7. I have a USB drive that I know I can boot Live images from. I have tried various grub2 commands to boot from my USB drive so far, in particular: > mount /dev/sde1 /mnt # usb stick > grub2-mkconfig - (HowTos)
