Hello all. I am a new convert to #! & am loving it. I used to run Linux Mint\Ubuntu until I found #!. I have #! Statler XFCE running on my Acer Aspire One NAV50. I am trying to figure out how to get Compiz to run with XFCE. I have Compiz installed & I am not sure I set it to start right.
I'm running FC18 XFCE x64 with compiz, ccsm, compiz-xfce, compiz-plugins-main, compiz-plugins-extra, libcompizconfig packages installed.
I've enabled Grid & Snapping Window but for some reason I can't snap anything. Any ideas why?
Thanks in advance.

People keep saying that Compiz is dead. Compiz is not dead. You can still install it on Fedora with MATE, XFCE, LXDE, etc.
I made it fairly straight forward, just copy/paste the commands in a terminal and run them.
I edit compiz configuration with ccsm and after that my ubuntu will go to must os!
when i open tabs in chrome or firefox them use many usage of cpu and cpu fan start to work hardly!
i delete these files from my home folder but doesn't effect!
sudo rm -rf .compiz-1 .gconf .gnome2 .gnome
how can i restart compiz effects and bring ubuntu before compiz changes?
Here is the output of top:
Compiz is now available in updates-testing.
Differents from former fedora packages:
-- verion is stable 0.8.8
-- gtk-windows-decorator is droped
because all windows-manager which i can use as base for gwd (metacity, marco)
are ported to gesettings, in result gwd doesn't work correctly.
So, emerald is the default and only windows-decorator.
-- gconf2/mateconf backend is droped
Default
I can't enable visual effects, I'm using lucid (10,04), my card is intel GM965/GL960, when i run
compiz --replace
it come back with
compiz (core) - Error: Screen 0 on display ":0.0" already has a window manager; try using the --replace option to replace the current window manager.
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0
compiz was running good before I installed com
I have installed Compiz on Xubuntu 11.10 with
sudo apt-get install compiz compizconfig-settings-manager
compiz --replace ccp &
In the process the XFCE window decoration theme is overridden by that of Compiz (Gtk).

Who doesn't like some eyecandy for their desktops, definitely not me. Compiz has enthralled Ubuntu users for years now. When GNOME officially ditched Compiz for Mutter for its next version, Ubuntu decided to stick with Compiz for its Unity Shell.
I found a strange thing that when i upgrade compiz to compiz fusion (my system is testing).
I can not figure out how it is launched when i login.
Previously, there is a start up entry in Gnome Sessions.
Now, even i delete that entry, compiz fusion still starts up each time.i neither want to start up it everytime, nor to uninstall compiz fusion.
