I am trying to install gentoo using minimal CD and going step by step reading its official installation document http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handboo...?part=1&chap=5
Everything was smooth till chapter-4,but in chapter-5 when I downloaded the stage-3 tarball and tried ..
# md5sum -c portage-latest.tar.bz2.md5sum
it gave me
#md5sum:portage-latest.tar.bz2.md5sum:No such file or directory.
Prob1:Is it a wrong tarball??
I have been following the exacts commands as per the instuctions given.
Also after extracting the tarball and on step
# nano -w /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.conf
Prob2:I am not able to find make.conf file,in fact there is no /gentoo/etc
I am using vmware 6 workstation. While installation I had an improper shutdown,but I was able to save the session till the 5th chapter.
where things went wrong?
