General Upgrading Note 2

http://androidforums.com – Hi, I have a Note 2 with the 4.1 firmware. I heard there is a new firmware 4.2. My queston is: Should i upgrade and root or root now ? Also when will i know if the new firmware is availabe for my Note 2. Thx (General)

Hey guys A few days ago I installed the German 4.1.1 firmware on my Note 10.1 Now I want to roll back to Canadian 4.0.4. I know the PDA for Canadian note 10.1 has to e8010xwalg4, but I dont know what the CSC for Canada is. Can any one help me out with the Canadian CSC? Or, even better, can someone post the Canadian 4.0.4 or 4.0.3 firmware which i can flash with Odin? Thanks

Do i have to upgrade to a ICS firmware before i can upgrade to JB or can i directly flash to JB :confused:?

Hello everyone, i want to root my Galaxy Note 2 and i don't want to change my current (default) android firmware (4.1.1 i believe), is it possible to root the device without installing the new firmware.

My note N8010 has started the upgrade and Kies says "downloading firmware upgrade components" It gets to 99% and has been for about 30 minutes. I thought that I would restart my computer and it did exactly the same thing. Anyone having the same problem?

Oilyboy I have just tried connecting to the server directly through my note, it seems that the server is too busy.

I mean, in PCs, a firmware is BIOS. but in Android, is the OS called firmware? is the world incorrect?

Also ,how do they gain root access? by exploiting a hole in Android OS or the firmware or Kernel?

What if there are no sec holes?

Earlier I was trying to upgrade the firmware via Kies and something went wrong. My Note is now stuck with a " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". But when you try to connect to Kies via usb then nothing happens and is unable to connect.

What are my alternatives to get my phone working again?

I need to go in the opposite direction many guides explaining how to downgrade the firmware to attain root. Got my tablet back from RMA with Jb .16 on it and downgraded, rooted, installed rootkeeper, flash, etc with no problems. Now I can't get back to JB. Everything I'm trying is erasing the root. I'm using stock firmware and still locked device.

Have an AT&T Galaxy Note II.

It was rooted and there were some strange problems happening with the phone from time to time so I decided to go ahead and unroot it.

As I have done before, I decided to restore the Galaxy Note II to its original firmware.

I got the AT&T SGH-I317 firmware from Sammobile.

Loaded Odin in Windows.
