General Smart stay isn't very "smart"

http://androidforums.com – Ok, i've had my Note 2 for a few days and i've tried to see the benifits of enabling the new "Smart Stay" feature with the Note 2 and S3 but I honestly am having NO luck whatsoever with getting to function properly. Basically, with it enabled, if I put the phone down and walk away, the phone display just stays on until I force it to shut off with the power button. I also almost NEVER see the "eye" icon come up when im using the phone, and I do read alot of stuff on the web though I am wearing glasses with an anti glare coating as well if that makes any difference. Hello.

When i have my smart stay enabled, and when i, for example, leave my phone on table beside me, not looking at it at all, screen is not turning off.. I have my screen timeout set to 30 seconds, and it is not turning off when i have smart stay enabled... Sometimes it turns off,and sometimes not..

This is literally happening everyday now. I have my phone set at 15 second timeout with smart stay on. It used to work awesome. Now the eye never pops up and the timeout doesn't work and the display just stays on unless I hit the power button. It works once I restart the phone but that's it. It shouldn't be like this. It doesn't even work if I switch smart stay off then back on.

I really like Smart Alert feature but it just wont run on JB builds.

When I go to "Learn about motions" and try Smart Alert, it stops and a message pops up saying "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped."

Does JB builds just don't have Smart Alert featured, or is it my phone?

Just got my S3 yesterday but having problems with the Smart Stay feature. I have turned it on in the settings but I can only get the eye icon appearing intermittently and only for a split second when it does. Can anyone else get better reliability of this feature?

Very reluctant to send back as I don't think the handset is faulty. The front camera works fine.

I've just noticed after the latest ics update a few days ago, sometimes when I put my phone down the screen stays on. I have it set to go off after 1 minute of inactivity. I don't use the smart stay feature. But I've tried it with it turned on and off and it still does it. It seems today a reboot of the phone fixed the problem, for now.

I recently purchased my first android enabled phone, an lgl75c (I believe 'aka' optimus zip). I am really digging the advantages of having a smart phone and want to "expand the possibilities" (as I believe I'm barely grazing the surface).

I made the move from the Razr MAXX to the Galaxy Note 2. I really miss Motorla's Smart actions. Does anybody know of a simple and suitable app that will work on the G Note 2? I tried Quick Shortcut Maker, but when choosing the contacts that I want to come thru "settings" crashes. HELP PLEASE:mad:
