The Kindle Fire 2 is now a part of the 7" Kindle Fire HD forum.
In terms of software, the Kindle Fire 2 is much closer to the 7" Kindle Fire HD than the original Kindle Fire. The two are similarly equipped with locked bootloaders, run ICS and share the same rooting method. Consequently, the KF2 has now been made a part of this 7" KF HD forum.
Written by: Stephen Withers | Published in: MobilityWhen Amazon announced that its Kindle Fire had sold out, a lot of people assumed a replacement model must be close at hand. The arrival of the Kindle Fire HD - along with the Kindle Paperwhite - proved them right.
Despite all the rumors of a larger device coming from Amazon, source are now indicating this week’s announcement regarding their Kindle Fire will be limited to two 7-inch models. Take that, Rakuten! Amazon continues to extend its reach into new markets and increase its focus in Asia: today it announced pre-orders for its first Japanese-language Kindle, the Paperwhite, and, in another first, it has now extended its Kindle Store into Japan, opening with 50,000 titles in the library.
This is hardly a surprise, but DealNews is reporting that Amazon’s Kindle Fire will experience a price drop to $169 after the new Kindle Fire 2 launches later this year. Amazon has a history of keeping older kindles around, at lower price points, when newer ones are released.
