Unlimited Wireless Service - MetroPCS
About Us
October 3, 2012
To our Valued MetroPCS Customers:
Today marks an important milestone in MetroPCS history and an exciting, positive step for our company. This morning we announced that MetroPCS has entered into a definitive agreement to combine our business with T-Mobile USA.
If you’ve been asking for a Samsung Droid Charge, but for whatever reason don’t like Verizon, today is your day. MetroPCS has announced the renamed but otherwise unchanged Droid Charge as the Galaxy S Lightray 4G, and it’s available now.
If you remember, earlier this month we told you about the Isis NFC mobile wallet application for select devices on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Much like Google Wallet, using the Isis application will turn your smartphone into a “wallet” of sorts allowing you to use your device to make purchases conveniently at participating retailers.
Another step in Facebook’s plans to make more money out of its mobile business: the company is now accepting mobile payments in France, covering services like virtual gifts and game credits for its HTML5-based content, which can now be billed directly to a user’s mobile bill rather than via premium SMS or credit cards.

T-Mobile Press Release
As noted here: T-Mobile, MetroPCS Merger Approved: MetroPCS Will Technically Acquire T-Mobile, this is not exactly what yesterday's rumours suggested might come to pass.

Today, T-Mobile and the Lookout team have announced a partnership to bring customers an alternative mobile security solution. Lookout’s Automatic App Security will come pre-loaded on select devices this year on T-Mobile and is expected on most Android devices in 2013, securing smartphones and tablets right out of the box for free.

It was confirmed yesterday that MetroPCS and T-Mobile were in talks of a merger, now the deal has been approved. MetroPCS and their 9.3 million subscribers will be under the T-Mobile umbrella, headed by T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere. T-Mobile and MetroPCS have fewer subscribers than Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint, but this deal will bring them to over 35 million customers.
This was definitely news that I was surprised waking up to. It appears that T-Mobile USA and MetroPCS are in heavy talks in a merger where T-Mobile will absorb MetroPCS in hopes to compete against Sprint’s #3 spot among US providers. What’s even more surprising is that both T-Mobile and MetroPCS are confirming such talks!
After recent leaks outed T-Mobile’s plans to unleash its own dedicated prepaid service, the carrier has officially revealed its low-cost GoSmart Mobile network. Ole’ Magenta announced today that it has already begun trialing the network, offering a selection of three prepaid-only plans. $30 per month will get you unlimited calling and texting.
