First lets understand what a factory reset does. It removes all USER DATA and restores the phone back to factory settings providing that the phone is not rooted. User data is defined as apps, call logs, contacts, and anything else the user has placed in the phones memory. Stuff that is on the SDCARD is not affected by a factory reset.
Now that I've got my apps chosen, I'm thinking about restoring factory settings and doing a clean install.
The phone is successfully rooted. If I hard reset, will the phone remain rooted?
As an aside: Settings/Privacy/Factory data reset vs. the power/volume down/clear storage deal? Are they both equally effective when working with the stock ROM?
Thanks,
Jake
Hi all,
suppose that some apps has damaged my phone and I want to do a factory reset on a stock but promoted ROM.
May I damage the phone by factory reset a rooted stock ROM?
If yes how can I reset the phone?
OK so I got this skyrocket from a friend, but for some reason i cant get rid of his data. I've tried regular factory reset via settings, also I tried flashing the stock ROM with Odin, both seem to work fine, I'm not getting any errors or anything, but when I reboot the phone afterward its still exactly the same, all his apps, accounts, data is still there.
Hi guys, just a few simple questions regarding malware, I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out quick!
1. Does malware require to root your phone in order for it to work? Or can it steal your information without rooting?
2.
I would like to factory-rest my phone. The 4.1.1 update went well but I got too much junk I'd like to start from scratch.
The phone has been saving pictures on the phone, not on the micro SD card. The phone has been automatically backing up to google account.
My question is what items are actually backed up to my Google accounts?
Hey everyone, I am having a little problem... I recently did a factory reset and when the phone booted back up all the files photos and folders that were there before the reset are still there. I have tried to do it from cwm with the code from the phone and from backup and reset in every case all the folders and photos and music remain.
Hello guys just got myself a pre-owned i9100 s2 running on ics 4.0.4, i wanted to know how much internal storage is the phone meant to have? I connected to my laptop and in explorer it tells me i have 6.87gb free of 11.4gb. I am a little worried as i was expecting it to have more internal storage than that (10gb +), i currently don't have any thing important on the phone.
I wanted to wipe my tab for a clean install.
In recovery I tried 'wipe data/factory reset' but this resulted in a reboot. So I Odin'd my tab with a stock rom. I noticed I wasn't able to root either.
So in Android in pressed 'Factory Data Reset' and it got stuck in an 'erase loop'.
It almost seems like a corrupted disk. What to do?? :crying:
