I installed GNOME shell and now I can't login after restarting the computer.
It brings up the login screen and I can enter my password, but it just goes back to the login screen. I would like to stop GDM and run X -config to see if that straightens out the problem.
Thanks in advance
I am young on linux, After I updated Fedora 17 (With Gnome desktop) at login the screen or theme of login it is like old style, but after login it is normal perfect Gnome, also I searched on dconf-editor but I could not see any solution, can I change it to default. :)
Thanks for guides.
I am on Fedora 16 KDE spin. Yesterday I ran the fsck command and that broke things. I can login via the tty, so I guess it has nothing to do with the shadow file. The login screen reappears after login no matter how many times I try to get past it. The permissions are the same as before. Also I have tried renaming the .kde folder. Doesn't help. This affects all the users, even root.
I suffer the following.
-- boot seems ok;
-- I see main login screen, i may choose session gnome or gnome classic
-- when I login, as root or a user, screen goes blank, I just see the little cursor, and Fedora Logo. If I move mouse to the the top-right corner, a Suspend/restart/Power Off menu pops up.
I am having an issue logging into Fedora 11 using KDE. Everything is up to date. When I login, it give me the startup screen with the little squiggly thing that gets longer. Then the screen flashes and instead of taking me to the desktop, it kicks me back out into the login screen. This happened after I installed KDE before the last update.
Hi fellow Fedorians, I've been trying to accomplish this for a few days now without any success. I've installed Fedora 20 using Mate spin and everything is running smooth except the high resolution of the login screen's just annoying me a bit. When I installed Fedora, it decided I should have 1680x1050 which is the maximum for my monitor.
