FWIW: If you upgraded Gnome but DIDN'T rebuild Cinnamon, Cinnamon won't run. You HAVE to rebuild it because of the Gnome upgrade. I know your problem is already solved, but I am adding this in case others need the info.

Hi all, I can't start a cinnamon session since last month updates. I get the "Oh no! something has gone wrong" message everytime. I have allready tried removing/reinstalling gnome and cinnamon with no luck. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Thanks!Felipe

If you don't want nemo you can just install it. The settings issue, when you do a search in either menu (gnome or cinnamon) You should see 2 options. I believe System Settings is cinnamon and just "Settings" is gnome.

I suppose more is needed since I haven't seen anyone mention otherwise, but saw this in the changelog for Cinnamon 1.7.4-1 currently in [Community-Testing]. Update to version 1.7.4, add compatibility patches with GNOME 3.8

You may have better luck getting an answer if you include the WM/DE in the thread title.(edit: thanks - and sorry I can't be of direct help.)

Hello all,did a fresh install of arch last weekend, installed cinnamon and gnome 3.10. I had sound working fine. Since cinnamon would lock up on me (tried the update, didn't work), and didn't care of the new gnome classic, I uninstalled gnome and cinnamon and installed Xfce4. Everything went smoothly, except after Xfce install, I have no sound, where it worked 1 hour pr
I had a bit of a google and could not quite find the answer.
I have had a look at cinnamon again, and whilst I do not think it suits my work flow I was curious about a few things.
I understand it is called a fork of GNOME-Shell sometimes, is this true? or did they just re-write it?
Are cinnamon applets the same as gnome-extentions?
