I've setup a server which I've connected to multiple PCs in my workplace. Sadly, data transfer speeds are at max 3 MB/sec per connection which works out slow for file transfers, especially when transferring large files. I'm using Windows filesharing and the server is a Windows Server 2008 (2 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM) and the client PCs mostly running Windows 7.
I'm in a very very strange situtation.
I use FileZilla for Windows 7, and when I upload a file to my server I receive: "File transfer successful, transferred 14,939 bytes in 1 second", but when I go to my website to see the changes, nothing is changed.
When I try to upload the file again (overwrite it) I noticed that the file have different size like it was not uploaded.
I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 x64 on an AMD 64 X2 4200 dual core 2.2GHz machine. I'm connecting to it via SFTP from my Windows machine over my 100mbps LAN, using FileZilla.
I have ubuntu 12.04 and kde.
I notice that a file transfer on a pen drive in windows with the software ExtremeCopy goes to 30/32 MB/s. Here in ubuntu the transfer on the same pen drive is at 10/14 MB/s. Obviously I use dolphin as file manager but maybe it's a problem with transfer file manager I don't know.
Trying to backup data from hard drive before reloading windows following some issue with its load.
Having trouble with the file transfer to a USB3/2 external hard drive NTFS. Getting transfer speed of about 116.7kB/sec. In other words its taking about 5 hours to tranfer 1.4GB. I've got about 80GB to go. So the transfer is going to take 11days.
So here's the story. Please excuse any incorrect terminology, I'm not really knowledgeable in the Windows server realm.
My company, pre-me-being-employed-by-them, has a "server" built out of consumer desktop parts, running Windows Server 2003. It's the domain controller, i.e. each Windows PC (we have ~20) logs in through centrally-controlled usernames and passwords.
I login to a dedicated Windows 2003 server, under Administrator, with a remote desktop client, Microsoft RDC.
After 5 minutes of inactivity the server shuts me out and I have to reload RDC and login to the server again. This is good for security but I think this is causing problems for a Windows Schedule backup task I am running.
I have very slow LAN transfer speeds over WiFi to my Windows 7 shared folders.
Using AndroidSMB client, I get a max of 500KB/s yet on WIFI WAN I get speed tests in the 30Mbit/s range.
Hi all
I did try to search the forums, but was unable to find any help on this issue.
I can easily transfer small files from my Windows 8 pc via USB cable on the MTP protocol to my samsung galaxy s3.
