Hey all.
I have a fresh install of 12.10 on my HTPC running XBMC. I'm running into an issue though which is causing some bigger issues. When the system boots up and loads into the default profile, the network takes around an additional 30 seconds before it comes online. This didn't happen prior to the fresh install - it was pretty much instant and ready as soon as the system was up.
Canonicol really, really needs to sort out their QA. Upon a fresh insall of ubuntu there is simply too many crashes and too many bugs. For example here is my latest experience with a fresh install of 12.10:
Install ubuntu 12.10, reboot.
Launch update manager, get all updates.
I'm having a problem with my Kubuntu. It's almost a fresh install (I've only installed the typical apps/codecs only).
Sometimes it boots fast, and sometimes it boots slow. It's almost random. So, I installed bootchart and now I bring you the logs of a fast boot and a slow boot. I don't know why dmseg says the boot time is almost the same (~52 seconds).
I'm 3 years using Ubuntu as my default OS, but I notice that Ubuntu will becoming slower after some weeks of installation. All the Ubuntu versions I installed "Ubuntu 10.10, 11.04, 11.10 and 12.04" the boot looks slower. When I make a fresh install, it boots in just 17 seconds... after 2 mouths, this system take almost 1 minute to boot (Slower than Win7).
I've been wrestling with ApacheDS for the past 3 days and couldn't figure out what the problem is.
I've got a fresh install of ApacheDS 2.0.0-M9 on a fresh CenOS 6.3 with the latest JDK7 installed.
After first installing the downloaded ApacheDS RPM package, the service is automatically started and I can connect to ApacheDS from a remote DS Studio application and everything works fine.
The probl
I just did a fresh install of Kubuntu 64 bit 12.04 (from the DVD) to a Lenovo V570 laptop.
I did a dual boot install with Windows 7.
Problem: During boot, ubuntu blocks for two minutes at the following stages, and wireless ultimately fails.
Code:
Waiting for network configuration
Waiting up to 60 seconds for network configuration
Setup:
Ubuntu 12.10 Server, fresh install
TP-LINK TLWN722N (ath9k_htc module) connected through USB
Details:
I installed 12.10 server, and during the installation, there is autoconfi
I'm getting a new laptop within a week and will (of course) do a fresh install of Ubuntu, but I'd like to keep most apps and settings (like windows style, repos etc.) from my current 10.10 install.
How do I go about doing that?
I've searched for a solution, but pretty much every post on the subject of backing up boils down to: backup your home dir.
I was hoping to find something like apt-
I have installed Ubuntu on a couple other old machines and it did a great job on these meager hardware machines. On this machine, a Pavillion a1648x, it has on-board NVidia Gforce 6150 and an Athlon 64 x2..
