I have been using Fedora since fc17, and selinux has been giving me errors using fprintd, printer and other pre-installed applications. I have always depended upon selinux for troubleshooting purposes. I have recently upgraded to Fedora 18, and have notice no selinux alerts at all. I have checked to ensure that selinux is on and working properly, and it appears to be. With that said...

Hey All,
I have been running fedora and had it automatically update from 11 to 12 but now I can't really do much in the environment, so I decided to reinstall from disc. I tried the dvd but my dvd rom wouldn't read it. So I did it with cd but the rom gave out after one disc was installed and nothing comes up on the computer since the install is ruined? Black screen.
Hello, everyone.
I am not sure where my problem is stemming from, but I believe that it is a video issue.
I recently installed Fedora 18 onto my HP Pavilion p6607c desktop. This system has an integrated GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (rev a2) video card.
Fedora 18 anaconda feature that I had not seen with the Fedora 17 DVD, is the new ability to directly read a Fedora ISO file. If this feature is backported to Fedora 17, then for some of us, we would or should be able to install Fedora 18 directly from Fedora 17.
After years of using ubuntu, I've moved over to Fedora. I download the ISO, burned it and installed last night. Once connected to my network it wanted to run updates - I can't remember how many but over 300mb worth. It starts the updates, get partway through, and then it's like something blew away my connection and the updates fail, and won't let me back online.
Every time after I run Software Updates, and have installed all the updates, the Software Updates Manager will show "The last check for updates was over a week ago. Please click Check for Updates to check."
But the last update check was just minutes ago. How can I fix that?
I checked the package history, and under Today there's all the updates I've installed minutes age. It seems normal.
i'm running a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04 through wubi, and i've had this problem for about a week now (i'm not sure whether i've run the update manager on this machine successfully yet).
The update manager refreshes the list of updates normally, like it always has, but as soon as it starts downloading these updates i get a connection error (failed to fetch X file, file not found)
it's quite
I searched the forum for what SELinux is and came up with old outdated threads that link to pages on sites that have been moved or deleted.
What is SELinux and why do I need it? I'm new to Fedora, btw. Just trying to find out why I keep getting errors that SELinux picks up. Are they errors I need to fix?
