Hi all,I have quite a few experience with freenx on other linux distributions, but this is my first time setting up freenx on archlinux. After following the instructions in the wiki, authentication keeps failing no matter what I do. Stuff I've done from the wiki:1. install freenx2. add RSAAuthentication yes AllowUsers someuser nx to sshd_config3. add md5sum to node.conf4.
I posted this question on the opensuse@opensuse.org before, but received no reply. I thought I'd try my luck here. Apologies if you've read this one before!
Hi all..I am trying to connect to my freenx server (i have set up freenx before with ssh public key auth + passwd auth). Anyways i am having a weird issue. I connect using opennx and get the following error dialog:The remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating the session.
I have just moved from f16 to f17 and can't get freenx-server working with gnome3.
After successful authentication, just the desktop background comes up without menus or status bars.
I've installed nx & freenx on a RHEL 6.3 via the 'yum install nx freenx' command. In the configuration file, node.conf, I've un-commented the following lines:
ENABLE_USERMODE_AUTHENTICATION="0"
ENABLE_PASSDB_AUTHENTICATION="0"
ENABLE_SSH_AUTHENTICATION="1"
On my mac client I have installed the NoMachine player and copied the client.id_dsa.key from the server.
This thread (nxserver now broken?) has inspired me to install FreeNX and the client from nomachine on openSUSE-11.2 (this is the version used on both, server and client machine). The good news is: basically it works. I can connect and get the desktop.
However, I have some trouble with the keyboard. Up and Down arrow keys do not work. The up arrow triggers a screen snapshot.
1 I have configured Ubuntu server with Key authentication & it is working fine. I have disabled password authentication for key authentication to work. Server is always accessed via remote terminals or putty.
Now all user accounts are able to login with the authentication Key and passphrase. But now I want to create only one new user without key authentication.
I'm following the guide here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/FreeNX
Specifically there is a part that says:
I've noticed a few problems with freenx-server recently.
The first is that the keyboard map seems messed up. By default, i'm unable to use the arrow keys, pgup/pgdn etc etc.
However, simply running setxkbmap in a terminal window in the nx session fixes it as it reloads the pc105 us layout.
