FPS games on laptops using NeoMagic Video

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have a Sony Vaio PCG-XG19 laptop. It uses a NeoMagic 256XL+ NM2380 video adapter. This video is _supposed_ to be "accelerated". First, I have to set the desktop color depth to 8-bit in order to play non-GL games like ZDoom. Is there any way around this? I don't need to do this on my other Fedora systems. When I try to launch GL-based games like Doomsday or Darkplaces, I get messages like "SDL Error: Couldn't find any matching GLX visual" or "Couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered, depth visual" and the game doesn't start. (HowTos)
