Hurricane Sandy, what may essentially be the biggest storm to hit the North Eastern seaboard in history, is barreling toward us, through the Atlantic, at this very second. It’s estimated to cause between $2.5 and $3 billion in wind damage alone, and has already claimed dozens of lives on its way to the States.

We’ll never forget last year’s LinuxCon Japan conference, which took place shortly after the devastating Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in March.

While we can all give thanks that the hurricane season is officially over, Hurricane Sandy was a fierce reminder of the importance of disaster preparedness. The advent of the winter storm season is an additional reminder that we should be ready for whatever might happen.
