I need to retrieve the event logs from an XP embedded machine which doesn't have the Event Viewer, to an XP pro machine with the Event Viewer and then view the logs.
Whenever I move an event log it seems to become corrupted and I get the message "Unable to complete the operation on SysEvent.evt.

I am developing a log parsing agent in perl to send windows Event logs to Zenoss Monitoring tool. Using Win32::EventLog i can able to get the Event messages but only one Eventype eg Application or System could able to parse at a time. Can you please help to how to open mutiple eventlogs at a time I need to get the total number of events combining all these event types.

I am running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on EC2.
With logs getting captured in syslog-ng, I'd like to be able to automatically monitor the logs and receive an alert if NO log events appear that match a certain criteria. For instance, for a subscription-based website, if 6 hours elapse with no orders, then email or text this person or group of people.
What is a good way to do that?

I have a Windows 2008 server that is just running a few apps and doesn't need a lot of attention. However, all I know how to do right now is remote desktop into it and check event logs, free disk space, backup logs, etc..
I am using Qt 4.8.3 on a small ARM embedded Linux device with a touchscreen. I have my touchscreen configured with tslib and calibrated it so there is a pointercal file in /etc/. The locations of my touch events work just fine but no matter what I get a QEvent for Mouse Move before Mouse Press or Mouse Release Events.
In the last 2 days my dedicated server (Windows Web Server 2008 R2) has crashed twice and restarted.
I've looked in the Event Logs and there's nothing logged leading up to it.I'm very technical, but not a trained server administrator.
I have a dedicated server since my site is active enough to require one.
