If I install virtualbox OSE on a 64bit oS11.2 installation, is the resulting VM a 32bit or 64bit system? I'm asking as I seem to be having trouble with an app I'm trying to install and want to make sure I've used the correct versions of the files and dependencies.
I've used the 64bit version.

is there any solution to install glibc 2.1 32bit on a 64bit box?

I had quite a surprise opening fine the BT5R3-GNOME-32-VM.zip other a 64bit 12.04 Ubuntu and hitting a wall other my 32bit 12.04 Ubuntu laptop.
It displays "End of central directory signature not found" with unzip under linux, that it's only a part of a multipart archive other windows vista and 7 32bit, winrar and windows's extractor.

As of right now, the development release of slackware 13.37 is out for testing. You can download both the 64bit and 32bit ISOs from distrowatch.com and try them out. It is using the latest 2.6.37.3 kernel. This should support newer hardware.Recommendation, install the 32bit system rather then using the 64bit version.
This tutorial should also work for OpenSUSE 11.1 and 11.2. Its written for 32bit but should be the same for 64bit. The only problem you might have is you need to download the following files which should be in the OSS repo:
