I’ve written a tutorial about enable numlock lamp on Ubuntu login screen. It’s convenient when typing numbers while at login.
Hi!I'm using SLiM 1.3.3-3 with the "auto_login" and "numlock" features switched on. Since a recent update, numlock is no longer set when SLiM automatically logs me in. (It is, however, set properly when I log out and the SLiM login screen thus appears.) This used to work before the update. Did anyone have the same problem and has some idea how to solve it?
I want to have numlock always on in the log-in screen, but I can't get it to work - I always have to activate it manually.
I've tried out System Settings > Keyboard > Numlock > Turn on both as normal user and as root, but it simply doesn't work :(
I'm using openSuse 11.2 x64 w/ Kde 4.3.4 (updated from 4.3.1 w/ Kde repositories).
Whenever I use setxkbmap in a terminal (or my .bashrc), the next time I press any modifier keys (ctrl, shift, alt) the NumLock LED on my keyboard goes off, but NumLock itself is still active so it's in some kind of inconsistent state.
If I now press NumLock, the LED stays off but NumLock turns off, and a second press on NumLock turns both the numpad and the LED on again.
I have auto login enabled, and I just upgraded to 11.04. When I boot, I get a message saying that I don't have the hardware required to run Unity, so I should choose Ubuntu Classic at the login screen. The problem is that auto login bypasses the login screen, and I can't disable auto login via the normal route since I can't start xwindows.
I'm having a weird issue here.
Hi,
When i take remote control of any system and try to type numerical number with numlock on, it doesn't work. However, when i turnoff the numlock i am able to type the numbers.
Do i need to set any settings?
Please help.

I installed 12.04 using WUBI on a working W7 64bit system.
both KB and mouse work perfect during the BIOS boot, and on the bootmgr, I can select Windows 7 or Ubuntu to load.
Once I select Ubuntu, the KB and mouse seem to loose their power (light on the mouse and Numlock leds go off)
After couple of seconds, the screen gets blurry.
so, this is a pretty funny one. the powerbutton on my laptop powers off my computer. i recently discovered it doesn't do that when numlock is on. so my numlock acts as a powerbutton safety switch. this can be useful, and in fact i might even leave it like it is now. but what intrigues me is how the hell this happens. so i was hoping anyone had any idea.
