My Toshiba C800 laptop (12.04lts desktop) has special function keys as follows:
fn+
F2-BRIGHTNESS DOWN
F3-BRIGHTNESS UP
F4-DISPLAY SELECT
F5-TOUCH PAD on/off
F6-PREVIOUS
F7-PLAY/PAUSE
F8-NEXT
F9-VOLUME DOWN
F10-VOLUME
F11-MUTE
F12-WiFi on/off
F6 to F11 (media player keys) work correctly, but the keys from F2 to F5 and F12 are not working.
Why would some function keys work, but not others?
Dear *,I'm still jumping from #! stable/waldorf trying to assess which release provides to my eeepc 1005HA a more trouble free environment for the things I would like to have properly running (Xen and Fn keys are part of it).I want to have the following Fn keys operation: network connectivity (F2), luminosity (F5-7), deal with external screen/projector (F8) and sound (F10-12).
I installed the latest set of F16 updates (including a kernel update) and rebooted this morning, to find that the volume keys on the keyboard now don't work.
They are recognized as keys - if I go to the keyboard settings and shortcuts, I can select the shortcut for "Volume down" and press the volume down key, and it shows up.
I have an EeePC 1005HA running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 that I'm trying to lock down for a school setting. I don't want the students to be able to turn off the wireless (Fn+F2) or put the netbook to sleep (Fn+F1). I can disable the individual keys (F1, F2, etc.) using a keymod script, but I can't disable the key combination. Any help would be appreciated with this! Thanks! :)
On my HP computer running Ubuntu 12.04, the brightness and volume increments were much higher than I wanted. On top of that, the notification for the volume was just plain wrong (0% sound did not correspond to 0 on the progress bar). So I decided to override these options with my own commands.
Hello, I'm considering buying an Asus eee pc 1005HA-H.
I would like to if things like Wireless, Blue tooth, Hot keys, Web cam will work out of the box, and if not what configuration steps are necessary.
I am using Unity 2D in Ubuntu 12.04 in a Lenovo ThinkPad T420.
Sometimes, Unity 2D crashes. It restarts by itself; however, when it happens, shortcuts in the form Control+Alt+[some other key] just stop working, both the default ones (such as Control+Alt+L for locking screen) and the ones I have created myself. Also, the keys for managing sound volume and to mute sound stop working, too.
Added acpi_osi=Linux to the grub menu.lst so that eeepc_laptop could load on startup. Verified that eeepc_laptop module was indeed installed by checking that laptop_mode was installed. Re-installed acpi-eeepc-generic, while perhaps not necessary, has not affected hotkey functioning in absence or installed. I have absolutely exhausted any other potential solutions I can think of.
