i have a bricked fedora 15(cannot run it, im stuck on a grub screen) and windows 7 as a dual boot. fedora is my primary boot but i cannot access windows 7 since fedora is bricked. my plan is to remove fedora 15 and run my windows 7 but i dont know how to do so.
I had Fedora 15 on a computer, dual booted with Windows 7. I did a fresh install of Fedora 17, but in the process I seem to have wiped out its capability to boot Windows 7, which I'm pretty sure is still on the disk.
My plan is to install grub on the /boot partition of the new Fedora 17 and then fix the MBR to boot Windows and use Easy BCD under Windows to dual boot.
I just got an HP Envy dv7 series laptop which came with Windows 8. I used Windows tools to remove the recovery drive and shrink the main windows partition to make room for Fedora 18. The installation process for Fedora went reasonably smoothly and I now have a system with a working Fedora and Windows 8 both booting with Secure Boot enabled.
I just switched from Fedora 16 to 18 (not an upgrade but a clean install). Previously in Fedora 16, I had no problems doing a Fedora 16 and Windows 7 dual boot in EFI mode. Grub Legacy (EFI version) worked perfectly. Now with Grub2 (EFI) there seems to be no working chainloader command.
I can still boot Windows if I go into the BIOS boot menu and select it.
I have a new laptop (Samsung) and installed Fedora 64 bit on it a little while back. I am dual booting Windows and Fedora. In the meantime I have had two more boot options show up in Grub. They were not there at the beginning.
Hello!
I have Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation and Fedora 17, both OS are 64 bit, on dual boot.
Windows and Fedora work OK, with one problem - i can not shotdown computer from Windows.
When i hit Shutdown, computer begin shutdown, but there is no shutdown, only return me on windows login screen.
Restart is OK, shutdown from Fedora also OK.
This problem only appears on dual boot Win8 - Fedo
Installed Fedora 16 x86_64 LXDE a few months ago.
Before installation I resized my C:-partition from inside of Windows so I could get some free space to install Fedora on (so I would be able to dual-boot with Fedora and Windows Vista). The installation went fine and Fedora is usable and all BUT I am not able to boot Windows Vista anymore!
I was using GRUB to dual boot fedora and windows 7, but I removed fedora. Now I cannot boot windows. I downloaded fedora to a usb so I could reinstall it, but when trying to boot from it, GRUB cannot find the kernel. All I can do is get into recovery mode or enter the kernel to boot from. My fedora is the bootable 32 bit, that is about 3.6 gigs if that matters. Please help.
Hi
On both my laptop and my stationary I'm dualbooting Windows 8 and Fedora 18. However, the grub boot menu looks different; anyone know why?
On my laptop I have the options.
