Hi, I just bought my SIII 2 weeks ago and I heard that there is a process just like jailbreaking on the iPhone called rooting. I just switched from apple because it sucked and gave me no freedom (not to mention I love widgets). So I want to root my phone but for some reason, my Windows Vista won't recognize it (yes, I already installed the drivers and reinstalled them).
I was currently using an iPhone 4 but I have lots of knowledge about rooting android devices. But have no.idea about anything other than the optimus v. And its a little frightening to root this and having the thought of bricking it in the back of my mind. I rooted my ov on the computer a few times. Then found that gingerbreak was 10x easier and safer. Is there anything for this phone similar?
Guys, I am new to XDA and new to Android. I was a blinded iPhone follower until now. I believe that I can do more with an Android phone than my iPhone. I don't think that I will try another iPhone. I thing its time to try something else. Of all the phones out there the one that I like the most is the Galaxy Nexus. I have heard that it is the most customizable phone out there.
Hello guys so i want to start by saying i'm coming back to android after a whole year=]. So basically i was the biggest android fan boy, i had about every android phone: G1, G2, Nexus One, Mytouch 4g, Galaxy nexus and the list goes on. I really got bored of android for some reason nothing was really changing so i jumped on the Iphone bandwagon.
Hello Android people.
I recently converted to android at the end of 2011. I had been a Windows Mobile user for a couple of years and a Palm treo user before that. Was using a Palm Treo before the first iphone ever came out. All I can say is WOW! I love my new phone. It took some getting use to the onscreen keyboard but i am getting there.
First Android for me is a Samsung Galaxy SII.

Hi there,
I have read that Android 4.2.2 is apparently being pushed to Nexus 4 :)
Now at the moment my phone is not rooted, if i update to Android 4.2.2 will i be able to root the phone?
Also, do i need to always need to flash a custom recovery image to get root access?
Hi.
I'm new in the Android phones and these days I'm going to buy Sony U so I wanted to ask you few questions...
Why do you root your phones? What is it that you acctually get when you root phone? Does the phone work faster?
Is it possible to root Sony U to Android 4.1?
What version of Android is faster 2.3 or 4.0.
