Speaking of trusting early reports, it seems that the A6 used in the iPhone 5 runs at 1.3GHz rather than 1GHz as previously reported. This comes from the latest build of the iOS benchmarking software, Geekbench, which just released its iOS 6 version today. Earlier builds clocked the iPhone 5 at 1GHz.
I saw this review on AnandTech that compared iPhone 5 performance to several high-end Android devices. The iPhone seems to have the upper hand in most of the tests. How long do you think until Android devices catch up or pass the current iPhone in terms of benchmark scores? Are there already announced devices that will offer similar performance?
The low-cost iPhone of fable got a little more material with some reports from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Before you balk at reports from an “analyst,” note that Kuo has been spot on a number of times in the past, including when he predicted the iPhone 4S release timeline and changes, the launch of the original white iPhone 4, and the iPad 2, among others.

The Galaxy S III has been outclassed in the performance department by the iPhone 5. Everything is faster on it with the new Cortex-A15 processor by it. I am not sure how the international GS3 does against it overclocked. But it's probably safe to say the new iPhone is the most powerful LTE device on the market at this moment.
Want to see exactly how the iPhone 5′s speedy new A6 processor compares to the now-somewhat-pokey iPhone 4S A5 chip? I shot a side-by-side comparison shot of the two devices executing a number of tasks, including simple stuff like opening webpages and Facebook, to more processor intensive tasks like exporting a 1o second 1080p HD video in iMovie.
