I was just playing with hardware on Ubuntu the other day, just by adding a second monitor (acer) to my laptop (dell vostro 1000). All went fine, some display settings worked out, other didn't (laptop could only handle the 1280x720 60hz setting, the acer screen could handle other screen resolutions and refreshrates).
I'm running PCLinuxOS 2010.07 (KDE) on my Acer laptop with Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller. I have an external Acer monitor that displays at 1920*1080. I have selected my laptops internal screen to be disabled and use the external screen. The PC LinuxOS Control Centre selected the 'Intel later than 810 driver'.

Hi, I can't seem to figure out how to solve my problem. I have a HP Mini 1100 and I can't seem to get wireless working. As the title says, when I type ifconfig wlan0 up I get the SIOCSIFFLAG: No such file or directory error. wlan0 is listed in the output of ifconfig -all.
Hi !
I bought laptop Acer Aspire 5742ZG-P624G50Mnkk and installed ubuntu 11.04. I tried installing the nvidia driver from the site or from the repository for my NVIDIA GT520M card and... I got black screen instead of login screen. While I have it I can change between teh different run levels and on Lv7 I can enter my password and I hear the sound for logging but... nothing changes...

Hi,
I just finished installing Ubuntu 9.10 on an old Acer TM 290. And just like described in this thread or at superuser.com i get a black screen after booting (right after grub).
Hi,
I've been trying to get my screen resolution to display correctly for the past few days. I've read many solutions but none have worked for me yet, so I thought I'd reach out for some help.
I have 2 acer monitors, both having a resolution of 1440x900 (specs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009235)
I have an nvidia GeForce 8400 GS graphics card.
I have a Acer Aspire 5755G laptop presently set up to use the Intel Sandybridge Mobile graphics - not the nvidia Gforce GT640M which is also available. Display is set 1366 x 768 (16:9). On connecting to my HD digital via the HDMI output (to the TV HDMI input) the laptop graphics switches to 1024X768 (4:3) and there is no picture on the TV.
