Firefox for Mobile 1.0 gets a release candidate

http://www.downloadsquad.com – Filed under: Mozilla, Browsers Good news, Nokia users! if you're fortunate enough to own one of those swish Maemo-powered smartphones: Firefox for Mobile has hit 1.0! The beta releases have been picking up pace, and now with the release candidate (RC) and a beautiful logo, Mozilla means business with Firefox for Mobile! Unfortunately this is just for Maemo-based devices, a distribution of Linux based on Debian. Right now there's only two devices that support Firefox for Mobile, the N900 and N810. There's an alpha branch for Windows Mobile, but no mention of any other version in development. Pavlov notes that there are Windows, Mac and Linux desktop builds if you want to start developing add-ons. Adoption of the Nokia/Maemo smartphones is minuscule compared to the iPhone OS- and Symbian-based devices. Then couple that with the news that Nokia only intends to release one Maemo-based phone in 2010, and you can't see Firefox for Mobile really taking off this year.
