http://crunchbanglinux.org – Following the recent WWW browser discussion (thank you again to everyone who took the time provide constructive comments) I have been looking at options for providing an up-to-date version of Firefox/Iceweasel for the Waldorf release. To this end, I have been playing around with the Linux Mint solution of packaging the official Mozilla binaries. I am not too sure how I feel about this method, but it works for Mint, so I figure there is no reason why it should not work for CrunchBang.Anyhow, if anyone would like to try these packages, I uploaded Firefox 13 to the Waldorf repository today. There's been a number of people looking to install Firefox in Statler. Even though it is essentially the same thing as iceweasel, users are reporting that iceweasel is somewhat slower than Chrome or Firefox.Thankfully Clem at Linuxmint is now packaging Firefox for Debian. At the time of writing it is at version 3.6.8 which is more up to date than iceweasel which is at 3.5.11.

Mozilla has uploaded a few minutes ago, October 9th, the final packages of the Mozilla Firefox 16.0 web browser for all supported platforms, including Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.

Mozilla uploaded a few hours ago, January 7, the final packages of the Mozilla Firefox 18.0 web browser for all supported platforms, including Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.

Actually, Mozilla Firefox 18.0 was supposed to be officially announced by Mozilla on January 6, but there is no release announcement for it at the time of writing this.

A couple of days back, we reported that Firefox 5.0 was available ahead of its scheduled release date in Mozilla’s FTP server. Well, today it has landed in the firefox-next PPA that Mozilla maintains for early adopters.

For some reason a while ago I was no longer able to use the Firefox that came with my Linux Mint 10 virtual machine.

Mozilla has officially announced that the second release in the Firefox 23.x branch is now available for download on the Linux platform.

Firefox / Iceweasel 6 stable 1 year 40 weeks ago

Today is a great day for us as a new stable version of Firefox / Iceweasel is going to be published: 6.0. I saw that in mozilla.debian.net a backport to Squeeze is already available (only Intel). So I will start working on backporting IW6 to MintPPC 9 for us powerpc users soon.
