Finding if the DVD player has an empty DVD in it

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – In some backup scripts dating from fedora 8 and working through fedora 14, I had a test to see if the DVD player had a new blank file system in it. These three commands would give me a non empty string if the disk was BLANK (after I already tried to see if there was an is0 file system in there to be expanded and failed).. mount -f iso9660 -o loop /dev/dvd1 MOUNTED=`mount | grep iso0660` if [ "$MOUNTED" != "" ]; then echo we have a blank disk fi ----------- in fedora 16 the first command (mount) returns silently with no error, but it does absolutely noth (HowTos)
