Finally! Nintendo drops Wii price

Making way for the release of the pocket book size DSi XL, Nintendo has dropped the price of the current DSi by AU$50.00

Nintendo has announced a $100 price drop for the 3DS.  But don't be too angry if you paid full price for the device that has only been on the market only four months, Nintendo is offering some compensation.

Nintendo has announced that it is to slash the price of the 3DS handheld games console from $249 to $169 from August 12.

Nintendo has dropped the price of the Wii console to $129.99. Of course, this is to keep pace with holiday demand and maintain an edge in a market that’s turned more difficult for the gaming company. The value package includes a black console with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort on a single disc, along with a black Wii remote and Nunchuk controller.

The Nintendo Wii U launches on November 18 with the support of 23 games.

Nintendo has announced drastic cuts to the price of both the DSi and DSi XL hand-held gaming devices.  Yet the 3DS remains at a price that leaves it vulnerable to competitor attacks.

Perhaps poor marketing is holding back Wii U sales for Nintendo. As Spike TV’s GTTV host Geoff Keighley noted on Twitter, a new campaign from Nintendo is using flyers to show just how awesome the Wii U is. Except, instead of going after console rivals Nintendo decided to aim its attack at its own, older-generation console the Wii.

A couple of days before its release, Nintendo has dropped a 3DS into the iTWire office.  Despite grumblings about price, and the revelation of the 3DS having already been hacked, one thing is for certain, the wow factor of glasses free 3D is fresh and exciting for budding and veteran DS fans.

Due to be officially launched in Australia tomorrow night, said to be at a price $100 more than the regular version, Nintendo 3DS will have you seeing deeply into the third dimension.
