File system problem

Scenario 1 (without StatusCall): You call a friend -> he’s busy -> you wait for him to answer -> he doesn't answer -> you spent 3-5 seconds waiting for him to answer.

Scenar

While trying to execute the following command

sudo apt-get-update

I get the following message :

0% [Waiting for headers] [Waiting for headers] [Waiting for headers] [Waiting for headers] [Waiting for headers]

The server is directly connected to internet and there is no proxy between.

Updater asked about a configuration file change. I clicked to see the differences, but that operation crashed. Now I am left half-way through an update, with a box saying waiting for configuration file prompt and no way to give it the reply it is waiting for.

What do I do now? If I kill the Updater, will I end with a broken system (half updated)? Help please.
