I am trying to install my video drivers as KDE is a bit slow using the free drivers.
I downloaded

I also installed kernel, kernel-devel
Check if system has the tools required for installation.
fglrx installation requires that the system have kernel headers.
Trying to install the drivers from the ATI
cd ~/; mkdir catalyst11.8; cd catalyst11.8/
$ wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/at...x86.x86_64.run
[edit] Create .deb packages.
$ sh ./ati-driver-installer-11-8-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/natty
[edit] Install .debs.
$ sudo dpkg -i fglrx*.deb

Just got a new computer, installed Kubuntu on it, and have been working on getting it set up. Overall, been going well. However, the one thing I've never bothered with is installing proprietary video drivers in linux.
There are a few different ways and many different webpages which teach you how to install the ATi drivers, however this guide should be always kept up to date with the most current method of installing the drivers.
This guide will work for installing the ATi Drivers on OpenSuSE 11.0, 11.1 & 11.2

I am following these instructions to install the fglrx drivers. When I am running sudo sh amd-driver-12-6-x86_64.run it tells me fglrx is already installed; even though I ran the commands to remove it. So I added the --force option anyway and went through the installer; here is the output:
