Fedora 18 suspends again on first resume

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – This is not 100% reproducible, but occurs at least half the time. I am using Fedora 18 on my laptop (HP EliteBook 2540p) with the MATE window manager. After installing lightdm to replace gdm, I can set my laptop to suspend when the lid is closed. However, when I resume by opening it and pressing the power button, it often wakes only briefly (a few seconds) and then suspends again. On the second resume all is OK again. Any ideas? Is it possible there are two separate mechanisms trying to handle the suspend, so that the slower one completes only after the faster one has suspended the mach (HowTos)

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my MacBook Pro 8, 1 when it was released. It has been working well overall, but I have a problem when it comes to suspend and resume operations.

When instructed to (by the closing of the lid etc.), the laptop suspends most of the time.

I have an external hard drive connected to my laptop via a USB connection.

When I boot up the laptop, the external drive gets mounted just fine.

When the laptop is running - with this external drive mounted - I sometimes need to suspend the laptop. So, I will select "Log Out", and then select "Suspend".

Hello, I have a problem with my system, when I use the suspend key (sleep key) my system goes correctly to sleep, when I wake it up it wakes up as intended but then, after a few seconds it suspends again without me triggering it.

I am running Fedora 17 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo li1718 laptop with Radeon Xpress 200m graphics card. When trying to resume after suspend I just get a blank screen. Also the wireless light goes out. No buttons work. I have to hold the power button to force the computer to turn off, then reboot.

Ever since the update kernel 3.4 my laptop runs slow until after a suspend/resume.It seems something has gone wrong with the power management settings from powerup, that then get corrected through the suspend/resume cycle.Its now getting rather anoying having to suspend my machine after boot, just to be able to use it.Does any know what the problem might be or what information I should look at to

Can't Resume After Suspend 49 weeks 4 days ago

After a kernel update from 3.3.7-1 to 3.4.0-1, my AMD64 F17 desktop system will no longer resume from suspend. The keyboard has no effect. When I hit the power button, I can hear the disk spin up, but the system is still unresponsive. /var/log/pm-suspend.log shows a normal suspend, but nothing else ( a successful resume will start with an "Awake" entry after the last suspend entry).

I can move my mouse around, see wall paper and top panel or switch to ctrl-alt-F1. But I cannot click anything nor do any key combination work.

What should I do beside restart lightdm? I chose to suspend because I don't want to lose my data. If I have to restart lightdm every time resume from suspend, I'd rather shutdown my computer.

how can i get normal suspend functionality back?

Running 9.10 on a dell inspiron e1705. It has an ati x1400 and I am using the built in radeon driver. Laptop suspends and resumes almost flawlessly (screen is dim on resume, but keyboard hotkey works to increase it).
