Hi I recently starteds using Ubuntu. I can't get my Aiptek 14000U tablet to work correctly. When I put my pen on the tablet the click doesn't work. So, I can move the cursor around the screen but I can't click anything.
Does anyone have any help for me about my drawing table.
It is 'aiptek hyperpen mini' it should be fully covered with ubuntu 12.10, but seems that it is not ?
Can someone help me to make it operational ?
I am currently with ubuntu 12.04 so cant say for sure, but it did not work out of the box when i last week was with 12.10.
Thanks damo, that's all helpful information. The Trust stuff looks like it's rebranded Aiptek/Waltop/Trust - the different modules all have the same specs and form factors so 'brand' shouldn't matter too much these days (at the cheaper end of the market anyways).I think I'll go with a cheap one and see how it behaves.Red
I would just try any/all of the xf86-input-wacom, xf86-input-acecad, xf86-input-aiptek. Then you need the xvxbd to use your virtual keyboard. Using the unit under X, is the only way you'll be able to use it.

Does anyone know how to disable xorg from using HAL for it's input device configuration? Only as far as I can see this is the only way I will be able to make my Aiptek 8000u graphics tablet work properly (or as nearly properly as it did work) again. Or someone might be able to enlighten me as to the Way Of HAL.
A bit of background information.
I have a Havnon Graphic Tablet, and I have never had to compile a program before. A link to the driver is in this Ubuntu Forums post. I love Ubuntu and it is the only reason I use Windows. I am disabled with nothing to do. I need to doodle, it is what I love to do. I know it is a noobish thing but I have never had to do this before.
I have a system on which RHEL6 is installed.
I need to install proper graphic drivers.
I checked my graphic card simply by this command
#lspci -v | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 0162 (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
When I searched its drivers I found this (01.org/linuxgraphics/)link.
But I don't know which drivers to choose and how to install them.
When Windows 8 Surface tablets launch this fall, maybe Microsoft should steal a page from the Google Nexus 7 tablet launch: Microsoft should sell Surface tablets mainly online and keep inventories low to ensure initial tablet shipments “sell out.” Here’s why.
Google’s 16GB Nexus tablet, which counters Amazon’s Kindle Fire, apparently is sold out.
Just like the competing manufacturers in the smartphone market, the tablet market seems just as fierce. Recently statistics showed that iPad devices control a whopping 52% of the market share out of all tablets! Keep in mind that there are a lot of other tablet manufacturers that make up the other 48%.
