I just got an HP Envy dv7 series laptop which came with Windows 8. I used Windows tools to remove the recovery drive and shrink the main windows partition to make room for Fedora 18. The installation process for Fedora went reasonably smoothly and I now have a system with a working Fedora and Windows 8 both booting with Secure Boot enabled.
Dear Guys,
I upgraded some old systems before from fedora 4 and fedora 6 to fedora 9 and 10 using the cds, When I booted the cds of fedora 9 and 10 it detected the old installed fedora and offered to upgrade it, It sounds nice, I chose to upgrade and every thing went fine, The old fedora 4 and 6 became 9 and 10.
I want to install fedora 17 but when select "Start Fedora 17" my pc's hanged After a few minutes and In this period not display any thing and show black screen.
Please Help me!
The following happens when I start up Fedora, I've installed it on VirtualBox, how can I stop it from doing this? Both of them take me to same installation of Fedora, I have no clue on how this happened.
Hi folks,
I recently upgraded to Fedora 17 KDE and now fedora is stuck. When i start my pc, Grub loads and shows my fedora version and on selecting fedora 3.5.0-2.fc17.i686, the fedora logo loads as a white patch. It does not go beyond the white patch... It remains for hours. Can someone help me with this problem?:bang: It is driving me crazy!!!
I'm trying to dual-boot Fedora 17 and Windows XP. I installed Fedora from the live-cd with no problem onto a second hard drive, and put GRUB2 on the first drive so it's the boot loader.
When I try to boot Fedora I get a "Cannot open file font True" message and it stops booting. I looked around and found that the error should only delay the booting, and found how to fix it.
I have just installed Fedora 12 on my old AMD64 desktop. The install went fine, I then set about adding various useful things like skype, flash plugin- some manually, some with autoten.
Upon rebooting, the system hangs. Looking at the text startup, the last line before it hangs is:
Starting jexec servicesStarting yum-updatesd: [OK]
I'll explain my situation and what I've done to try to fix it.
I had gotten a brand new laptop, a Gateway NE56R10u just the other day and of course wanted to to install fedora which I did without any problems. I have my windows partitions on sda1-3, fedora is sda4-8.
I went to update my fedora system to fedora 18 sometime had went wrong.
I have just installed fedora 12 from fedora 12.iso dvd.
as I try to use yum it hangs indefinitely.
Is some one else also facing same problem? I am behind network proxy so I added proxy setting in yum.conf.
any solution??
