I have been trying to set up a dual boot ubuntu for a couple of days with no luck.
With a clean machine, installing Windows 7 and then Ubuntu 11.10, on reboot, I do not get a grub menu, instead it goes straight into Windows.
I tried installing Fedora 16 which worked as expected (Grub menu with Windows and Fedora options).
Formatting the Fedora partition and re-installing Ubuntu over it gi
I did a fresh intall of Fedora17 64bit on a dual boot system with vista. The installation was fine. Grub boot menu takes unusally long time to showup. Re installed Fedora 16 64 bit, the grub bootmenu showed up fast.
Probalby grub2 is the culprit after the installation of Fedora17. So tried upgrade from Fedora 16 to 17 without boot configuration update option during the installation.
I had Fedora 15 on a computer, dual booted with Windows 7. I did a fresh install of Fedora 17, but in the process I seem to have wiped out its capability to boot Windows 7, which I'm pretty sure is still on the disk.
My plan is to install grub on the /boot partition of the new Fedora 17 and then fix the MBR to boot Windows and use Easy BCD under Windows to dual boot.
Going through LFS 7.3 and about ready to make it bootable but Fedora's grub is giving me issue.
The plan was to share /boot between LFS and Fedora 18 as I have done in the past (been awhile since I ran LFS - LFS 4.something last time). Hell, I've shared /boot between Fedora, CentOS, Ubuntu, and LFS.
My PC is dual-boot, F16 and Ubuntu 12.04. Although I mainly run Fedora, Ubuntu's grub2 was automatically placed in my MBR when I did the upgrade from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04.
I recently ran preupgrade to upgrade from F16 to F17. When I tried to boot anaconda, the only Fedora entry in my grub2 menu was "Upgrade to Fedora 16 (Verne)".
I just did a complete reinstall of my laptop installing fedora 17 and windows 7.
I installed Win7 after fedora 17, so i had to boot the live cd, chroot into my fedora install and reinstall grub.
I have Fedora 17 running on a machine and I have a spare drive which I would like to install Win 7 on. Windows 7 will blow away my Linux boot so I want to be confident I can sort out the dual boot (or as a minimum, get back to Fedora) afterwards.
I wanted to setup a boot USB (or CD) with a different grub2 menu and confirm that I could boot with this before installing Windows 7.
hello
i would like to try out fedora 12 using dual boot method. i currently have ubuntu karmic installed with grub2 and ext4 partitions and would like to dual boot with fedora 12.
if i just install fedora 12 will it automatically pick up ubuntu karmic as welland add it to grub.
Installed Fedora 16 x86_64 LXDE a few months ago.
Before installation I resized my C:-partition from inside of Windows so I could get some free space to install Fedora on (so I would be able to dual-boot with Fedora and Windows Vista). The installation went fine and Fedora is usable and all BUT I am not able to boot Windows Vista anymore!
