Fedora 18 does not recognize usb ports

view story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hi there; just installed fedora 18 on an old pc, dell dimension 2400, which I didn't want to throw away. I personalized it with programs it didn't have, like vlc, LibreOffice, etc. It works for what I want to do with it. Only issue: It doesn't read or see usb flash drives. In the settings and disk management, I have set the rules for it to react to flash drives. What am I missing? It didn't have a problem with accepting a usb Epson printer. But no flash drives, no matter where I plug them in. By the way, when I boot, it shows a message over several lines saying 'too much work for irq 17'. May (HowTos)
